BHT (KB) (Butylated Hydroxy Toluene)

It is a white crystal or crystalline powder with a melting point of 70°C, a boiling point of 257–265°C, and a flash point of 126.7°C. It is soluble in benzene, toluene, alcohol, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, ethyl acetate, and gasoline, but insoluble in water and dilute aqueous sodium hydroxide solution. It is an important phenolic antioxidant additive widely used in polymerized materials, petroleum products, and foods. It has color-preserving properties.
