Silicone rubber is an elastomer composed of polymers containing silicon, along with carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Silicone rubbers are widely used in various industries and come in multiple formulations. Silicone rubber is generally non-reactive and stable. It is resistant to extreme environments and temperatures ranging from -55°C to +300°C while still maintaining its properties. Due to these characteristics and the ease of production and shaping, silicone rubber is preferred in many industrial applications. Silicone rubber has a range of hardness levels expressed as Shore A or IRHD, ranging from 5 to 100; a higher number indicates a harder compound. It is also available in virtually any color and can be color-matched.&

Silicone rubbers are classified not only by their form—solid (HTV) and liquid (LSR)—but also by their processing techniques, such as hot (HTV) or cold (RTV) curing. Furthermore, for a purer, more transparent, and smoother finish, there are silicone rubbers in the “FUMED” class. In addition to selecting the appropriate type based on the final product to be manufactured, there are two different versions of the available types—"EXTRUSION" and "PRESS"—depending on the production technique. The selection of silicone types is of great importance for the successful production of the final product.
